Year of the Dragon

Growing up, Lunar New Year always held a special place in my heart.

As a kid, my dad would take my brother and I to the local Chinese buffet, which was decked out in bright red decorations. In college, I attended Lunar New Year events on campus- dragon dances and fireworks. Later, when I moved to New York City and lived in Chinatown, I was lucky enough to experience the festivities in a whole new way right outside my door.

Now, I want to honor Lunar New Year in my own way.

Each year, I’ve decided to create a drawing to celebrate the the lunar calendar/Chinese Zodiac.

2024, Year of the Dragon: The dragon is a symbol of luck, power, and strength. The Wood Dragon specifically is believed to amplify the dragon's "go-get-em" influence and signifies a time for growth and renewal.
